When I was living in California, our church conducted annual read through the Bible challenges for the entire congregation. The church was Friendship Baptist Church, Yorba Linda. I never read through the entire Bible before and was up for the challenge. While reading my daily passages, songs would jump from the pages of the Bible and into my spirit. I literally had to keep a tape recorder near me where ever I went because the lyrics would come anytime, anywhere. They were mostly straight from scripture, with book chapter and verse in the lyrics. The Lord would give them to me with a melody, chorus, a beginning and an end. That began about 2002. I've written dozens of songs since then, mostly complete in one sitting. A few are unfinished, but are beautiful. The problem I've had is, I can't sing. I took a few piano lessons for a few months while living in Orange County, but not enough to know how to score my music. I'm tone deaf and can't harmonize. However, I know how each of my songs are supposed to sound. I decided to start uploading my songs up to youtube and keep them in a blog for folks who want to help me get these songs out. Copyrighting was a concern to me, but the Lord told me if I covet even one of the songs He's given me, then that is my reward.

How Singing Maryee's Songs Works
I will upload one of my songs with lyrics only to Youtube.com. If you think you can sing the song without knowing how it sounds and would like to video tape yourself singing it and upload to Youtube, I'll post it on my blog. After so many video responses have been made, I will post the original way in which I heard the song in my spirit when I wrote it. Then those who are following my journey can provide feedback, or better yet, try and sing my song the way it was given so a score can be put to it. The lyrics are the lyrics, are my thoughts on the matter. If you can sing it with a different melody, that's fine with me. Let's have some fun!
